CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns running back room posed questions at the start of the offseason, which is understandable after playing four different backs on an injury-riddled team after Nick Chubb’s season-ending knee injury.
The Browns are bringing in extra bodies through free agency, and the most recent signee is D’Onta Foreman.
The former Texas Longhorn played for a few teams prior to joining Carolina in 2022, where he saw his best production up to this point. His chance for a starting gig came after during the 2022 season after Christian McCaffrey was traded to San Francisco.
Prior to Week 7, Freeman rushed the ball 12 times for 37 yards. From Week 7 through the rest of the season, Freeman delivered five games of 100 or more rushing yards, and six of Carolina’s seven wins came with him as the main back.
He finished the 2022 season No. 19 league-wide in rushing yards (914) on 203 carries for 4.5 yards per carry. He had 45 rushing first downs and five touchdowns.
Freeman saw a decrease in his production after joining Chicago in 2023, only recording 92 carries for 381 yards (4.1 per carry) and four touchdowns.
