High pressure south of the region will bring drier air and some sunshine for the first time in a week and a half, along with milder weather, as readings climb into the upper 40s.
A cold front will push through the state tonight, but with limited moisture there is only a slight chance for a shower.
The coldest air will skirt Ohio well to the northeast, so temperatures will only slip back into the low 40s Friday afternoon. Morning clouds will gradually give way to some afternoon sun.
Another ridge of high pressure will build down from Ontario to the Mid-Atlantic over the weekend, as low pressure in the southern Plains is forced south of the Ohio Valley. Some high clouds will arrive later in the weekend, but skies will remain partly to mostly sunny.
Next week looks to be quiet and unseasonably mild, with little temperature change. Highs will approach 50 and morning lows will barely dip below freezing during the first week of February.
