COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ryan Day would not go into specifics in discussing whether he expects certain key members of Ohio State’s roster would be back against Wisconsin or not, but he did let off a level of optimism.
Day stated that he felt the Buckeyes had gone through a good week of practice which was a good sign for a team that has spent much of the past few weeks since returning from an off week losing players on both sides of the ball that are a vital part of the gameplan.
“We got a bunch of guys back which is great,” Day said. “When you say ‘full’ there will definitely be some different things here and there. But it certainly does help. It’s hard when you go through a week and you’re not quite sure because you put things in, you take things out.
“We feel like we’re gonna get some guys back this week which we feel great about,” Day said. “It has been a solid week coming off a practice coming off the field. …We’re looking forward to getting some guys back into the fold.”
Offensively the question still remains whether or not TreVeyon Henderson and Emeka Egbuka are back against the Badgers. Hendeson hasn’t played since the win over Notre Dame win despite routinely going through warmups before games and being listed as questionable on the availability report. Egbuka left a win over Maryland with a lower-body injury that sidelined him for games against Purdue and Penn State. However, he did participate in warm-ups before being ruled out of the game against the Nittany Lions.
Both of those players were seen coming back into the Woody Hayes Athletic Facility after practice Wednesday night as the media waited for an availability session with Day and select players. The same cannot be said of Denzel Burke as the cornerback hasn’t played since leaving the win over the Boilermakers.
Even if it’s not everyone, Day is optimistic that Ohio State could potentially get some of its weapons back on Saturday when it heads to Wisconsin. That started with having a week of practices that he and the coaching staff can feel good about. Especially when it comes to some of his best players in Burke, Egbuka and Hendeson,
“Those guys have all had good weeks,” Day said. “We’re expecting those guys to be available for sure.”
