COLUMBUS, Ohio — Chip Kelly is bringing one of his former UCLA assistants — and a former Michigan coach and Jim Harbaugh lieutenant — for his first season as Ohio State football’s offensive coordinator.
Tim Drevno will join the staff as a quality control coach, as first reported by Eleven Warriors. Drevno’s name now appears in the staff directory.
Drevno served as Michigan’s offensive coordinator and offensive line coach from 2015-17. He spent a considerable portion of his career with Harbaugh, serving as offensive line coach at San Diego (2003-06), Stanford (2007-10) and the San Francisco 49ers (2011-13).

Most recently he served as UCLA’s offensive line coach, taking that job after Justin Frye left the Bruins for Ohio State. Before and after his Michigan assignment, he served as run game cordinator/offensive line coach at USC.
Day hired Kelly, his friend and mentor, to replace Bill O’Brien as offensive coordinator. New UCLA coach DeShaun Foster did not retain Drevno on his staff.
Drevno helps replace some of the staff experience lost when former analyst Joe Philbin left for a senior assistant post with the Las Vegas Raiders.
