FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Good Wednesday Evening,
It has been a much colder day today with scattered light rain showers, sleet, and graupel mixed in through the day as temps have generally hovered in the 40s after topping in the upper 50s early this morning. Overnight tonight, we will continue to see light rain showers, changing to a light wintry mix overnight tonight with snow showers possible with lows in the middle 30s and chills in the upper/middle 20s.
Thursday morning, we will continue to have wet snow showers mixed with cold rain showers. Eventually as temps slowly warm, we will transition back to cold rain showers, mixed with sleet/graupel during the day as highs will only top in the middle 40s. The large upper low will slowly lumber east on Friday, and will leave us with more cold light rain showers, mainly in the first half of the day on Friday with highs only in the low to mid 40s.
The low will move away for the weekend, setting up for improving weather, with clearing skies, light winds, and warmer temps. First though, the mornings will be chilly with frost expected both Saturday and Sunday mornings, with temps near freezing in the city, and upper 20s outside of town. We will have highs near 50 on Saturday with sunny skies. Sunday will warm close to normal in the upper 50s with mostly sunny skies.
Monday is looking interesting for the eclipse forecast, as we will have a warm front lifting north. This will bring at a minimum a mix of clouds to the forecast for the afternoon, with increasing clouds expected during the day, and an isolated chance of a shower along the front. Temps will be much warmer on Monday with highs in the mid to upper 60s.
Tuesday we will be on the south side of that front, with partly sunny skies, and highs near 70, with rain showers possible in the north part of our area. Tuesday will have a better chance of showers as the low and cold front will approach our area, with highs still in the upper 60s.
