ORANGE, Ohio
Lost property, suspicion: West Ash Lane, Berkeley Avenue
A woman reported on the morning of Oct. 27 that she was missing a $2,000 Lenovo laptop last seen around 4:30 p.m. the day before at either the Tyler Road Starbucks or the Classic Car Rental, both on Tyler Road in Mentor.
She told Orange police that by using the “Find My Device” app, the computer was currently registering at one of two addresses on Berkeley Avenue in Moreland Hills.
Orange police gave her a missing property report and told her to contact Mentor police for a theft report and a more comprehensive follow-up.
In the meantime, Orange police also went to one of the Moreland Hills addresses a short time later at 7:47 a.m. and spoke with one of the residents, who said it was not on their property.
Officers returned about 9:30 a.m. to the other Berkeley Avenue house and still could not contact that resident, with further investigation pending.
Personal welfare, attempt to locate, having physical control of a vehicle while under the influence: Harvard Road
After receiving a call on the night of Oct. 28 from a friend concerned about a woman who may have been drugged and was reportedly on her way to the hospital, police located the 2022 Ford Escape in the back of the lot at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant.
Inside, a Macedonia woman, 57, was lying across both seats, with the officer noticing what appeared to be fresh damage to the car with a white paint transfer on the fender extending to the door, making it difficult to open.
When the officer did force the door open, he smelled alcohol in the car. Although the report did not mention whether the keys were still in the ignition, police noted that the hood of the car was still warm.
The driver was taken to the Solon jail, where she refused a Breathalyzer test and was later picked up by the friend who had phoned in earlier with concerns about her welfare.
