CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 19-year-old man who police say shot and killed his brother during an argument last month was arrested Thursday on the city’s East Side by federal agents.

Rodney Curlee was found hiding the basement of a home on the 1800 block of Reyburn Road in the Euclid-Green neighborhood, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. Curlee reportedly refused to leave the basement until a federal agent threatened to release a K9. Curlee then surrendered without incident.

Records in Cleveland Municipal Court show Curlee has been charged with aggravated murder. He is being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail.

According to Cleveland police, Curlee and his brother, Tymeir Hale-Dial, 23, got into an argument on Oct. 3 at a residence on the 500 block of East 127th Street in the Forest Hills neighborhood. Curlee reportedly pulled out a handgun and shot Hale-Dial several times in the upper back and head.

Hale-Dial was pronounced deceased at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A woman at the scene told police Curlee pointed a gun at her, but he didn’t shoot her. The woman told officers that she believed the suspect ran out of ammunition.
