DUBLIN, Ohio (WCMH) — Oscar’s Restaurant and Bar in Dublin has closed after more than 30 years of business, and the eatery’s furniture and equipment has already been auctioned off.

The restaurant and bar at 84 N. High St. in Dublin’s historic neighborhood permanently shuttered on Jan. 27, according to the eatery’s auction listing, which described the closure as “sudden.” Lasting several hours, the auction was held the following Monday to sell “everything by piece til done,” the listing states.

Oscar’s has not released a statement regarding the closure and did not respond to NBC4’s request for comment.

The eatery opened in the early 1990s and was acquired in 1995 by the restaurant group that also owned several Brazenhead Irish pubs and Tucci’s, an upscale steak and seafood restaurant just a few blocks away from Oscar’s. Tucci’s is the only restaurant remaining and is expanding with a new four-season dining room.

Dwight McCabe, a Columbus-based developer, proposed the idea of opening a 127-room boutique hotel at the restaurant’s site. While McCabe told Dublin’s Architectural Review Board in 2022 that Oscar’s would close to make way for the hotel, it is unclear if the project is moving forward.

Marketed as “creative American cuisine,” Oscar’s offerings included a light lunch menu with an extensive wine list and pastas, seafood and steak available for dinner.
