COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State earned a big time commitment on Saturday night from 2025 linebacker Tarvos (T.J.) Alford.
The No. 63 player in the 2025 cycle per the 247Sports composite rankings, Alford is the second linebacker commit in Ohio State’s class along with in-state Eli Lee. A nice mix of size and speed at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, Alford fits well into Ohio State’s scheme in a way that should allow him the ability to run from sideline-to-sideline.
With Alford, a Vero Beach, Florida prospect, in the mix, it stands to reason that Ohio State’s linebacker recruiting for the 2025 class is done. Unless the team wants to take three at the position, the Buckeyes and linebackers coach James Laurinaitis are done in this cycle.
Now, it’s worth keeping an eye on his visit schedule over the next few months. He has official visits scheduled for Florida State and Miami in June, in addition to one with Ohio State. Certainly, the Hurricanes and Seminoles, as well as Florida, won’t stop recruiting Alford to stay in his home state.
Alford is the team’s ninth commitment of the class, and seven of them have come on the defensive side of the ball. Of those seven, five are rated in the top 100 of the composite rankings — and defensive lineman London Merritt is rated No. 101.
