Avon Lake, Ohio
Avon/Avon Lake Community Resource Services (CRS) has been helping those in need in our communities for decades. CRS was founded in 1988 by a small group of concerned volunteers who wanted to address the growing need among community residents for health and welfare assistance, according to information from the CRS website. The group recognized a trend involving many families facing difficult financial situations for the first time in their lives, but who were not necessarily eligible for government programs. There was no other agency in the area equipped to handle this segment of the population, and CRS set out to fill that gap.

Avon/Avon Lake Community Resource Services (CRS) Charity Ball organizers celebrate a successful event in 2023.Avon/Avon Lake CRS
Since then, CRS has remained the primary social service agency in Avon and Avon Lake, consistently providing assistance to the economically disadvantaged. Help support the nonprofit’s mission by attending the 35th annual Charity Ball April 20 at the Shipyards Event Center, 500 Shipyard Way (485 California Avenue for navigational purposes). The event is the organization’s largest fundraiser and it’s a night to celebrate CRS’s mission to diminish poverty in Avon and Avon Lake, and all those who support it.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the formal event will feature an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, sit-down dinner, music, dancing, auctions, raffles and much more.
The Charity Ball Volunteer Committee is once again planning an auction. The silent auction will go live on April 15. There are also raffles where attendees and non-attendees can purchase tickets to enter. There are some exclusive raffle items like diamond stud earrings, a Louis Vuitton Bag. and the Golden Ticket (choice of live auction items). These raffles are being sold only through GiveSmart and you do not need to complete a raffle ticket to be entered. There’s also the Party on the Patio raffle, which can be purchased through GiveSmart or with cash at the event.
To purchase event and raffle tickets, go to CRS2024.GiveSmart.com. Last year’s Charity Ball sold out, so don’t miss out on your chance to attend and support CRS.
